We had the chance to sit down with Heidi and chat about her drive, passion, and journey for medical aesthetics training. Let’s hear from her…
Why did you decide to start your own business?
I worked in Trauma & Critical Care for 7 years, where I was not only working clinically but also training Physician Associates(PA), Nurse Practitioners(NP) ,and General Surgery Residents, I had always had a passion for aesthetics & dermatology, as well as a 7 year history in training I decided to jump in with two feet and start my own company. I started with a medical staffing company, HLM Medical Management Firm, LLC, which allowed me to use my skills in educating, coaching, and providing great jobs for other medical professionals but I quickly found that I missed clinical practice and the hands-on aspect that I had honed while working in Trauma & Critical Care. This led to the start of my second business, which was originally called Med Spa on the Green, as we were located on the back nine of the Las Colinas golf course. After COVID and the loss of my physical business space, we moved to Dallas and rebranded as Dallas Medicine and Aesthetics, of Uptown Dallas, which is where I am today!

What do you love about teaching?
I love seeing the students get excited about what they are learning and realizing that they can really make a difference by improving the patient’s self-esteem and their lives. I always inquire about what the student intends to do with the training, so we can help them choose the best selection of training courses we offer to help them maximize their return on investment.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their own business?
- Get sales and marketing in place. If you don’t have butts in the seats, you aren’t making money!
- Networking is key!
- Use cross referrals with other businesses and contacts. It’s a win-win for both of you!
- Get referrals from your customers. Their vote of confidence is worth more than a dozen ads.
Where do you see your business in five years? Ten?
My original dream was to franchise “Med Spa on the Green.” It’s the perfect situation, as we train medical professionals (MD, PA, NP, RN, DDS) and I love the idea of providing them with a turnkey operation to open and run a med spa. in prime locations across the US. I still plan to fulfill my dream of developing a turn-key operation, where everything is ready for an investor to walk in and get to work, with the physical space, all the equipment, products, and supplies that they need to be successful.
What is the hardest part of being an entrepreneur?
When you start a business, it’s because you love something and have a passion for it. As the business grows and develops, there are a thousand different things that need attention. One of the hardest things to do as an entrepreneur is to let go of aspects that someone else would be able to do better…to relinquish control and trust that someone else will be able to give each project the time and energy that I don’t have to offer!
How did you connect with George Beach and Med Purchasing?
I originally connected with George and Med Purchasing when I bought my very first micro needling pen from him. We developed a working relationship and friendship as I continued to buy all my business supplies from him. Then, during COVID, we lost connection until a mutual friend mentioned Med Purchasing. We reconnected and threw out the idea that we could collaborate, developing a partnership between Dallas Medicine and Aesthetics and Med Purchasing. I’m thrilled to be able to offer training on George’s equipment and continue to help others build their own businesses!
What does your time outside of working with equipment look like?
When I’m not working, I spend a lot of time with my family. My mom is my best friend and after she was widowed during COVID, I make it a priority to spend as much time with her as possible, as well as my 2 brothers, sister in laws, and precious 4-year-old niece, “JuJu”. I also love doing anything active: golf, Pilates, or really any kind of exercise. I also spend time painting and working on other arts and crafts, as well as any sort of decorating. My King Charles spaniel, Gracey Mae, and I make frequent trips to the dog park, and I love to have dinner parties.
One last question: What is your favorite product?
Oh, that’s hard… I think it’s a toss-up between Les Encres Threads (PDO, PCL, PLLA) and the Vampire Procedures (PRP). They provide the most dramatic & natural results for my patients. I love seeing my patients happy with their results. Contact us for more information on our training offerings!
